Prototype Printer gives CTC the edge
From idea to reality: “prototype printing” puts the CTC@WVU Tech in the lead MONTGOMERY, W.Va. – Layer by layer, the white plastic “ink” is laid down as the printhead shuttles back and forth, side to side, round and round. It doesn’t look like much at first, but in the end, sitting there in the chamber, is a three-dimensional prototype that actually works.

WVU Tech Organizational Changes Announced in Advance of Merger with WVU
Montgomery, WV – A streamlined administrative structure has been put in place at West Virginia University Institute of Technology, anticipating next week's merger with West Virginia University, WVU Tech President Charles Bayless announced Thursday.
"This is the end result of a huge amount of work," said Bayless, who will become provost of WVU Tech under the changes enacted by the Legislature last year. The merger takes effect on July 1.

Prototypes Produced on CTC @ WVU Tech Campus
Montgomery, WV—The Computerized Drafting and Design Department in the Community and Technical College at WVU Tech recently created the first prototypes for commercial use with the newly acquired 3-dimensional printer. The Dimension BST 768, which was installed on campus in February, was used to produce four prototype parts for NGK Sparkplugs (USA), Inc. in Sissonville, West Virginia.

Montgomery, WV – WVU Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) and the Community and Technical College at WVU Tech (CTC @ WVU Tech) will be hosting two New Student Registration events on June 20th and July 14th for first-time freshmen or transfer students. Both events will be held in Davis Hall (located along Route 61) on the Montgomery campus from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

WVU Tech Partners With National Initiative to Help More WV Students Enroll in College
West Virginia University Institute of Technology is partnering with College Summit, a major national initiative, to send significantly more West Virginia students to post-secondary education and training programs after high school.
West Virginia University Institute of Technology will host a four-day College Summit summer workshop June 14-17, with 30-40 rising seniors from West Virginia high schools invited to participate. College Summit plans to host 8 workshops on West Virginia college and university campuses this summer.

Renewed for CTC @
WVU Tech’s Dental Hygiene Program
Montgomery, WV – The Community
and Technical College at WVU Tech recently received
re-accreditation for their two-year degree in Dental
Hygiene.
According to a statement by the
Commission on Dental Accreditation, “The program in dental
hygiene is accredited by the Commission on Dental
Accreditation and has been granted the accreditation status
of ‘approval without reporting requirements’.” The
Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by
the United States Department of Education.(more)

Congressman Rahall to Make $2 Million Grant Announcement at
Community and Technical College at

Montgomery, WV –
Congressman Nick J. Rahall will be making a special
announcement on October 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. concerning a
$2 million Economic Development Administration grant for the
Mine Safety Technology Development Program and the
establishment of the Mine Safety Technology Consortium (MSTC).
